Social Media

When I first thought of Freshman Seminar I thought it was going to be the most pointless class ever. I constantly thought of it as a waste of time. But, now that I have been in this class I have learned so much not only about social media but also about myself. This class has shown me some of the ins and outs of social media that I would have never thought of or known on my own.

In the beginning stages of this class I was confused. I honestly didn't know how to grasp the ideas that Dr.Lawhead was trying to tell me. But as time went on my knowledge of those ideas and concepts grew and it became easier for me to understand his way of teaching and sharing new ideas.

I learned that there are positive ways to use media sites. Many of those ways involve networking and building your online character as a brand. It was truly fascinating to see how many different outlets social media can provide for just about anyone.

In one of our class meetings we talked about the "hash tag" and it's importance. I never knew how important a hash tag could really be. I actually learned how influential hash tags are from storify.  Creating the different storify posts lead me to get a better understanding of how people in other places think of hash tags.

Overall, this media class was very informative. It showed me the different ropes of social media. Although at times it was difficult to understand different topics I began to get better understandings. I really enjoyed being in this class and I hope it continues to be apart of this learning community so others can enjoy it also.

I just want to share this article by Joanna Douglas on Shine that was published a few days ago. May it also serve as a warning to boot lovers out there too.

It has come to my attention that it is now the wonderful season of Fall. The season where you can bundle up in beautiful scarves and hates. The season where you can buy the cutest cardigans and match them with the most fashion forward leggings. It is also the season of FAKE Ugg boots. Wait, whatttt? Yes I said it. I have also noticed in this wonderful season not only the great fashions but the not so great fashions. And the fake Ugg boots are one of the NOT SO great fashion trends.

I have never understood why people were so antsy to buy things that were not authentic. I mean it just bothers the crap out of me how a girl can go and purchase the fakest pair of ugg boots and be okay with walking around in them. I just do not understand it one bit. And I have come to ask myself, "well maybe that is all she can afford". And this may be true but if thats all you can afford then you need to shop in you money range area. There are other great styles of boots for less than those cheap raggedy fake Uggs.

It is also not just a disgrace to the eyes, but a disgrace to the company of Ugg Australia. This company strives to give a quality shoe that they put their name on and what do you girls do? You go out and buy something of less value and don't support such a great company. Do us all a favor and THROW AWAY THOSE FAKE UGGS! geez.
