Social media communities

So many people have different views on there being community on social media. I myself believe that 100% social media has community. It is very often that you see different groups or I ones who have set themselves aside from what social media as a whole is about. I am in a social media community. Communities on social media exist in very different ways. There could be organizations or groups that are all for one specific topic. There also could be a community based around a celebrity. Really there are many ways you could see the existence of community on social media. I am apart of the "Rihanna Navy" social media community. I follow and friend many others who are fans of Rihanna. It is not only a community were we talk about one thing. We have multiple topics. We are just all grouped in this one community because of our one common denominator. So yes I do believe that social media has many ways if showing that it has communities and community like groups.

Social Media

When I first thought of Freshman Seminar I thought it was going to be the most pointless class ever. I constantly thought of it as a waste of time. But, now that I have been in this class I have learned so much not only about social media but also about myself. This class has shown me some of the ins and outs of social media that I would have never thought of or known on my own.

In the beginning stages of this class I was confused. I honestly didn't know how to grasp the ideas that Dr.Lawhead was trying to tell me. But as time went on my knowledge of those ideas and concepts grew and it became easier for me to understand his way of teaching and sharing new ideas.

I learned that there are positive ways to use media sites. Many of those ways involve networking and building your online character as a brand. It was truly fascinating to see how many different outlets social media can provide for just about anyone.

In one of our class meetings we talked about the "hash tag" and it's importance. I never knew how important a hash tag could really be. I actually learned how influential hash tags are from storify.  Creating the different storify posts lead me to get a better understanding of how people in other places think of hash tags.

Overall, this media class was very informative. It showed me the different ropes of social media. Although at times it was difficult to understand different topics I began to get better understandings. I really enjoyed being in this class and I hope it continues to be apart of this learning community so others can enjoy it also.

The Most Counterfeited Brand of the Season – UGG

I just want to share this article by Joanna Douglas on Shine that was published a few days ago. May it also serve as a warning to boot lovers out there too.

It has come to my attention that it is now the wonderful season of Fall. The season where you can bundle up in beautiful scarves and hates. The season where you can buy the cutest cardigans and match them with the most fashion forward leggings. It is also the season of FAKE Ugg boots. Wait, whatttt? Yes I said it. I have also noticed in this wonderful season not only the great fashions but the not so great fashions. And the fake Ugg boots are one of the NOT SO great fashion trends.

I have never understood why people were so antsy to buy things that were not authentic. I mean it just bothers the crap out of me how a girl can go and purchase the fakest pair of ugg boots and be okay with walking around in them. I just do not understand it one bit. And I have come to ask myself, "well maybe that is all she can afford". And this may be true but if thats all you can afford then you need to shop in you money range area. There are other great styles of boots for less than those cheap raggedy fake Uggs.

It is also not just a disgrace to the eyes, but a disgrace to the company of Ugg Australia. This company strives to give a quality shoe that they put their name on and what do you girls do? You go out and buy something of less value and don't support such a great company. Do us all a favor and THROW AWAY THOSE FAKE UGGS! geez.

Extra Extra! Halloween slut parade?

“Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.” (Lindsay Lohan, Mean Girls). While this quote is very true it should’ve stated that NO-ONE should be able to say anything about it. We the Halloween Hotties have had enough! We will not stand for the constant hate any longer. Although we are not here to lead a slut-parade, we are however here to take a stance on what we believe in. And that belief is being able to show what the good lord gave us one night out of the year. The way we feel about the “slut label” is simple…it strengthens the power of patriarchal dogma! Basically governing the sexuality of a woman and her body that are beyond oppressive. This just will not work for us. The Halloween Hotties just will not take it. Society already holds women to a high standard of feminine beauty. Which means women in society today are really only valued for their outside appearance. So we ask the infamous question, “Why can’t we be sexy for you guys”? Isn’t that what you want?  Don’t you want our extremely fitted leather, our skin-tight skirts, and our busty tops? Well whether you do or you don’t we are here to tell you TOO DANG ON BAD! We will strut our stuff all night on Halloween in our thigh high boots and cat suits!
Even with our strong views towards the need and want to wear these things we do have a few proposed solutions for those who can’t take the sexy we have to offer:
  1. DON’T LOOK!
It is very clear that you all have these marvelous things called eyeballs that are controlled by one person and one person only, YOU! Keep those things elsewhere and off of us.
  1. DON’T PARTY WITH US!
In this wonderful country (also known as the land of the free) you have the right to pick and choose the events you attend and the company you expose yourself to. So don’t choose us.
  1. GET OVER IT!
There is absolutely no way you can change what someone wants to put on their bodies. So get over it!
  1. JOIN US!
Have you ever heard of the phrase “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em?” That is exactly what we want from you all! You know you can’t stop us so you may as well join the fun!

Those were simply our four suggestions for the Halloween Haters. It is undoubtedly the most atrocious thing that people do when they speak negatively about what us girl girls choose to wear for Halloween. We already have to struggle with maintaining a certain level of beauty but then you all complain about us having too much beauty! I mean what do you really want from us? We cannot continue to battle with this every Halloween season every single year. It has to end! We are no longer putting up with the constant disrespect and labels that you all place upon us.

Many make the assumptions that we are empty vessels or attention whores but we are the exact opposite. We get all the attention we want and need year ‘round so we don’t have to beg for it on Halloween. We simply use that Holiday as the one time a year to allow every person to be as confident as we are even if the normally aren’t all year. And what most people don’t understand is sexuality isn’t just expressed on Halloween, it is expressed every single evening at night clubs, parties, etc. So why won’t you all label those girls? Why aren’t those girls having to put up with the “Slut Label” like the Halloween Hotties are? Well, maybe they do put up with it but it is not nearly as much as we do!
There are many reasons that you all bring to the table about us dressing this way one night out of the year which are just not logical. Some say it is because our upbringing and that our mothers showed us no love as youngster, but that is where you all are wrong. Our mothers taught us to be women and how and when to let our sexuality show! So if we choose 364 days to be prissy little princesses and 1 night to be the exact opposite then guess what, THAT IS OUR DECISION!
Really we just use Halloween as the one night to be something we really are not! There is a level of excitement in dressing up as something that you wouldn’t day be on a regular day. It is meant to be fun and allow people to express themselves. We should not be held bondage to the 1980 Halloween costumes of cowgirls and princesses.NO, we don’t want to be hideous creatures, or the bride of Frankenstein (we’ll be her if our dress is short enough to show the garter). We want freedom. And the freedom we want is to show our sex appeal! IT’S JUST HALLOWEEN!

Fake isn't Fab!

I'm all for girl empowerment, and for the praise of women and I have had enough. Why can't girls come together and show each other some respect? I mean its plain ridiculous! I'm almost positive I'm not the only one who handles noticed that if a girl isn't speaking negatively about another girl then she's basically not speaking about her at all. That's beyond tragic. Like seriously, where's the love?

It's so aggravating. I see GORGEOUS girls all day on campus and have not one problem complimenting them. It's almost as if they don't even know how to accept the compliment because they're not used to it at all. Dog on shameful. I just can't deal! Like, was I the only one who was brought up with home training?

I know you're probably wondering why I titled this post "Fake Isn't Fab" but I promise I have a point. It's not okay to be fake! I consider being fake as you knowing that a girl is looking amazing and you just can't be a classy young woman and give a simple compliment. That's fake. If you consider yourself to have an issue with another girl and you don't have a clear reason then THAT'S FAKE! That only means you're a hater or you are just plain insecure.

Invest in yourselves and maybe you all will learn that Fake isn't Fab! You will learn how to not only co exists with females who have beauty but you will also learn how to interact with them. It's not that hard ladies, get it together or cancel ya Christmas! (That's my way of saying get over yourself) haha.

Being Goudeau's Gal

Well let take a moment to get a bit personal. This is my amazing boyfriend. This guy happens to be my forever. My better half. My Superman. My "sweetie pie"! I mean where could I start!? This guy has always been there for me. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this type of love before but if you have then you know IT'S REAL.

That New Orleans accent just does something to my soul, makes it melt possibly. I mean he can just say my name and Im going to go into this childish stare and day dream. In love huh? Haha!

Its really just a good feeling to have someone who wants you for you. Its an even greater feeling to have someone who wants to grow with you and make something great of you both.
I usually don't brag on my boyfriend (Lies) but right now I am! He's a working young man, own car, in school, and has a future with goals. I can't even begin to explain how proud I am of him.

That's MY Sugar!
OH! And we're Saints fans! Oh yes couldn't forget that amazing fact! And on game days we always dress so cute but we get so into the game that we don't take ONE picture together.
That's a real struggle haha!

Sweet Tooth! *Sweets can be FAB too!*

As we all know its not money that makes the world go 'round. Its definitely FOOD! One of the most amazing things that one can ever lay taste buds on. From juicy burgers to succulent steaks food has a way to anyone's heart. But, I'm not going to talk about the hearty food, Im just going to focus on the little dainty desserts that can warm you heart.

Cupcakes are universally known to be the healer of any heartache. HA! Maybe I did exaggerate that but doesn't it seem like they are? I mean places like Gigi's and Muddy's both are the reason why some of us never feel sadness because those delicious cupcakes are always there as a comfort food. Yes, comfort foods. Really for me anything sweet is a comfort food.

Not only are cupcakes one of the best things ever but also FRUIT! Now I know I might sound like someone's mom saying eat your fruit and all that but have you ever put your own little spin on the everyday fruit you eat? Well I have and they can honestly take the place of those extra fattening but also extra great-tasting cupcakes. I have tried so many different things with fruit. Chocolate cover strawberries are always a go to but I go as far as cocoa and peanut cover bananas, or even whipped cream and cherries. I can almost taste them right now as I type this! Those can be some of the best snacks to keep that body FAB and FIT still! So there's still always an upside to having a sweet tooth right? In my eyes it is!!

So, as you all know I'm all about girly thing's and keeping it cute, so I could talk about the dainty desserts that I love all day! I mean its quite evident to everyone that I love my fruits but can always go for a good ol' buttery cupcake! But enough about what Kyla likes what sweet treats do you all enjoy? What amazing fruits do you love to consume? Let me know because I'm up for a sweet suggestion anyday!

Peace and Love Kyla!
